BOTW Switch 2 Resolution bet

Main Post:

Hello BOTW Fans,

A friend and I made a bet about whether or not the Switch 2 version of BOTW will run at 4k (up scaling allowed) and 60fps.

We made this bet late last year and we thought with the release of the games are questions would be answered. We thought wrong.

For every video that says it is in 4k there is one that says it's 1440p. I really want it to be 1440p.

Any help would be appreciated there is a free pizza at stake here.

Top Comment: Oh hell it does. Botw looks like it has gotten texture overhaul, but it's just 4K wonder. It's so detailed, crispy and smooth. And the gameplay, smooth 60 fps

My Betting Side Project has made 4k/Month, Part 3

Main Post:

There were a lot of doubters and people calling me a scammer on the last post. Apparently no deed goes unpunished for sharing free insight lol. I thought I'd write a post to correct some misinformation.

  • Does your side hustle really take 15 minutes a day?
    • Yes, it's quick because I've automated the screening of all bets, so that all I have to do on a daily basis is to place them. A select few get auto-posted to my Twitter, Reddit, and Discord on a daily basis just after 12 (and more at 6PM for discord) if you want to see examples. In my personal usage I also scrape the bet links, e.g. https://sportsbook.draftkings.com/event/31895773?outcomes=0QA236239662%23172825113_13L42648Q1-1691304831Q20 so that placing the bet is about 3 clicks on my phone. You can try placing a bet on Draftkings or a similar sportsbook--it takes about 30 seconds. Of course this didn't start with 15 minutes a day and required a ton of upfront coding and research, but now that I've done the setup work and automated everything, executing it is trivial.
  • Is it a scam? Are you promoting gambling platforms?
    • No, I'm sharing free picks and teaching you how to make money from sportsbooks. My profit is a sportsbook's loss, so if anything, sportsbooks probably don't like me. You can see my bets posted publicly and see the performance for yourself.
  • Can you lose money doing this?
    • Yes, certainly, but the more you bet with an edge, the less likely it becomes. Let's consider a biased 53% heads, 47% tails coin that pays $1 for a win and $-1 on a loss. This coin has an EV of 6%: 0.53*1 + 0.47*(-1) = 0.06 (6%). The probability of losing money after x flips is the following from Claude AI (read about binomial theorem if you want to understand the math):
      • 10 flips: ~42.5%
      • 100 flips: ~27.4%
      • 1000 flips: ~2.9%
      • 10000 flips: ~0% (extremely close to zero)
    • My sportsbetting has an ROI of ~6.5%. Sportsbetting is a bit more complex than this toy coin flipping example with uncertain EV, correlations, etc., but using this napkin math I would've had about 0.13% chance of losing money after 2500 bets - not zero, but not a lot.
  • Is this a shill? How are you profiting from this?
    • I am not a shill, nor do I profit in any way from my Discord server now. I don't offer paid services, nor do I use affiliate links. My goal is to stand apart from the many sports betting scams out there, where unprofitable bettors often sell subscriptions to subpar picks without historical performance transparency. I'm publicly tracking all my bets and sharing my insights to build trust. I might offer a paid option in the future if there's demand and people believe in my performance.
  • Is this arbitrage?
    • No, it is not riskless and I am not hedging my bets, I am taking directional risk. It is similar in the sense that I am finding mispricings in the market.
  • This is gambling!
    • If you bet on sports in an uninformed way, you will almost certainly lose money in the long run - I am certainly not promoting this kind of gambling and that's not on me if you choose to do that. After all, if you take a finance class and learn how options work but blow up your account with bad trading, you don't blame the professor, do you?
  • Why did you work on this side hustle?
    • I was a quant trader at a large market making firm for several years. I realized sports betting is like trading on financial markets on a much smaller and easier scale, and I had a theory that some of the ideas I learned in finance would be profitable in sportsbetting so I decided to test that idea out.

Join my discord to check in on my performance, I post my wins and my losses without filter - I know over the long term math will favor me and I will continue to profit, so I'm not afraid to be fully transparent in my betting. Let's win some money from the sportsbooks. https://discord.gg/NUuVR8d9t5

Best bet for TV and Xbox pairing for 4K?

Main Post:

I have a huge home theater with projector and Sony XBR but ever since my twins were born I have been down there maybe twice. I find I am spending all of my time upstairs with the cheap 50" sharp 1080P TV I got just to have in the room for occasional use. While it has been great, it is time for an upgrade.

I am looking to get a new 65" 4K TV and after a previous post on here it seems the TCL 6 Series is probably the best option. I want to be able to play 4K Blu Rays and have 4K gaming and am not sure how much of a difference the Xbox One X gives over the Xbox One S. I know the hardware is blown out of the water between the 2 but it is $170 difference. I guess the real question is, would it be worth it to get the Xbox S with a 6 series or a Xbox X with a 5 Series to try to compensate for the cost? Or should I just bite the bullet and get the 6 series with the Xbox X?

I expect I'll be using this TV A LOT over the next 4 years or so until I can start using my theater a lot again.

Top Comment:

Do not buy a TCL lesser than a 6 series. And honestly, consider the P65 as well as it's a better Tv and right around the same price.

I went from an OG Xbox One to a One X, and the difference is astounding. Don't buy a one S, especially with a nice new 4k/HDR television.

Is the Intel NUC a safe bet for a 4k HTPC?

Main Post:

New to hackintosh and need to replace my ageing mac mini. I've been lurking around for a while trying to figure out a good build and keep coming back to the Intel Nuc as a simple cheap option.

The computer is streaming content from a remote Plex server so the machine doesn't require too much power, I'm most concerned about the 4k playback. Is there a better/easier/cheaper option out there?

Top Comment:

If you're only streaming from a Plex server just get a Roku stick for the TV and install the Plex app. Mac OS sucks for playing 4k content. It does not support passing HDR/HDR10/DV meta-data to the display unless it is content from iTunes.

Hopefully they'll add support soon.

Betting on NBA 2K/FIFA/EA NHL played by gamers

Main Post:

Perhaps you have seen these. They seem to run pretty much 24/7, often on Twitch under names like LigaPro and CyberLiveArena. To give the impression of transparency, the gamers (always dead-eyed Russian teenagers) always appear on the screen like you see for a lot of Twitch streams.

It's gotta be fairly corruptible but I'm still curious if anyone has delved into this and has any insights. For the books (like Bovada) that carry their odds, the lines list both the team being played and the gamer playing them, and Googling their names does give you some good history on betting-forward score aggregator sites.

Looking forward to the "You are such a shameful idiot for even thinking about this" responses the most.

Top Comment: Ill let you guys in on the secret. On Bovada, they offered this league called gt 26 league which was a fifa league. What we would do is put money on the late overs on this league with 5 minutes left in the game on the sportsbook discord. We would get three game slates every 20 minutes and we would hit the overs at +250 odds. If we went 1/3 we would break even and if we went 2/3, we would make a lot of profit. This shit hit 2/3 a lot and was insanely profitable for around a month. I made around 4k from this and completed 4 rollovers. Unfortunately, I think too many people on the discord were on it and bovada removed it. It was a money printer

Which client is the safest bet for Plex?

Main Post:

I have problem with LG TV and I have little hope that it will ever be resolved, judging by the number of complaints from others, so I'm looking for a solution. I know NVIDIA shield is highly recommended, but it's just simply too expensive.

What is the second best option? Seems like ROKU is something that works quite well? I'm not in US, but I'd be willing to order it anyway. Which model is the best? Seems like Roku Ultra 4k is the newest and most powerful?

ETA: Just to clarify, I don't mind the new UI, what is important is that it would work, because LG is buffering terribly, especially when playing/trying to play transcoded content.

Top Comment:

I have a roku ultra. It's not on my main TV so I don't use it a ton but whenever I do, it works great! It's definitely the next best device after the shield and Apple TV IMO. It's way better than the amazon boxes.
